AYSO Kids Zone

At AYSO, we want all players, coaches, families and volunteers to have fun! That’s where AYSO Kids Zone comes in.

Kids Zone is a special program that encourages all in attendance—from the sidelines to the field—to use positive language, demonstrate good sportsmanship, and create a great experience for every player. It is a reminder that the soccer fields are a safe, friendly, and happy place for children to play without fear of judgment.

The Kids Zone Pledge

Parents and spectators are asked to agree to the following guidelines to ensure kids remain the #1 priority:

Kids are #1!
Fun – not winning – is everything
Practice proper physical distancing
Set a proper example of sportsmanship
Players play, fans cheer, and coaches coach
Respect the volunteer referees
No yelling, swearing, or abusive behavior
No weapons, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs
Leave no trash behind
Celebrate the player – win or lose

AYSO practices good sportsmanship. We believe fun should be had by every child on the field – even those on the opposing team. Everyone Plays® means supporting everyone, whether they win or lose. It means honoring the game – not the outcome of the game.

Disciplinary Rules & Suspensions

The following minimum suspensions apply to coaches, players, spectators, and volunteers:

Assault on Referee: 5 years minimum suspension.
Blowout Rule: If a team wins by more than 6 goals, the coach receives a yellow card.
Yellow Card Accumulation: (3) yellow cards in a season = 1 game suspension.
Fighting: 3 games.
Foul Language/Gestures: 1 game.
Red Card / Violent Conduct / Verbal Abuse: 1 game minimum.
Ineligible Player: 1-2 game suspension for Coach & Player.

Second Offense

Immediate suspension from all AYSO games, practices, and activities for the remainder of the season.

Appeals & Administration

1. Disciplines may be issued by an AYSO Regional Referee or higher. Persons receiving a disciplinary action shall leave the field immediately.

2. Referees note all discipline on the back of the game card to be returned to the Regional Referee Administrator.

3. Any AYSO Region board member may report inappropriate behavior during practices or functions to the Regional Commissioner for disciplinary action.
