Infrastructure Sales Tax Capital ProjectsSales Tax CardPlease see the message below from the Assistant Director of PBC Parks explaining the one penny tax and projects list:
Hi Greg:
Please find attached two pieces of information regarding the One Penny Infrastructure Surtax that will be on the ballot for voter consideration on November 8th. The first item is a postcard we have produced that gives a very general overview of what the surtax means for parks – addressing more than $90 million in deferred infrastructure needs…things that are past the expected lifecycle and are dire need of replacement/renovation….as well as addressing areas where our level of service is not being met to keep pace with population growth, such as West Boynton. The second piece of information I have attached is a project list with all County projects listed. Parks projects are listed on Pages 14-20. You will see the development of Canyons District Park on Page 20 ($12 million) as well as sport field renovations at West Boynton Park on page 18 ($2 million).
More information including interactive maps of all the projects is available on http://www.onecountyonepenny.org/
Approximately 25% of this funding mechanism would be paid for by tourists and the revenue would be split between the School District, cities and the County to address infrastructure needs.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Eric Call, our Director, or I would also be willing to come out to any group meeting you are having to educate and provide information about the proposed one penny surtax particularly the portion allocated to parks.
Sincerely,
Jennifer
